Use of Dhoompana (medicinal smoke) – A medicinal stick is prepared from Bharg (Clerodendrum serratum), Vaca(Acorus calamus) and HinguFerula assa-foetida) -(mixed with clarified butter) and fumes from the burning stick are inhaled gives the best management which is therapeutically effective, cost effective and can be used for long time. DRY COUGH remedies: 60mg of Pippali powder (Piper longum) should be mixed with 120mg of Saindhav(rock-salt) can be taken two times a day.

Turmeric powder mixed with black pepper (1:1 part) is boiled in half cup water and. One table spoon of honey is mixed.

Herbal tea – one teaspoon of turmeric powder + one teaspoon of carom seeds added in a cup of water, and boil it until the water reduces to one-half cup.
Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder is added to a glass of hot milk, should be taken in evening hours daily.
A turmeric gargle prepared by adding half teaspoon of turmeric to lukewarm water helps in relieving the congestion of throat and providing clear airways.

Honey- for a sore throat and cough. It is proved to be more effective than over- the-counter medicines that are cough suppressants. Drinking warm lemon water mixed with honey is very beneficial to soothe the sore throat. Since honey is low-cost and widely available, honey can relieve a dry cough and reduce chest pain experienced from continuous coughing. A teaspoon of plain honey is swallowed on empty stomach.
